The Algarve as one of the Best Beach Destinations in Europe

The Algarve was considered one of the best beach destinations in Europe at the World Travel Awards ceremony, also known as the ‘Oscar awards for Tourism’, which took place in Sardenha on 5 September 2015.

Another eight awards were attributed to hotels and resorts in the Algarve, under the categories of best destination in Europe, the Mediterranean and in Portugal.

In the category for Europe, the beach resort award was attributed to Hotel Quinta do Lago, also considered the best hotel in the Mediterranean. Vila Joy was considered the best Boutique Hotel, Conrad Algarve awarded the best Luxury Resort with Spa and Monte Santo Resort, the best romantic Resort.

In the category for Portugal, distinctions were attributed to the Sheraton Algarve at Pine Cliffs Resort (Family Resort), Hotel Vila Vita Parc (Ecological Hotel) and Dunas Douradas Beach Club (Resort with villas).

Portugal was given 77 nominations and awarded prizes that surpassed countries such as Spain and Italy.
